There is a submarine documentary from the late 60s or early 70s called "Steel Boats, Iron Men" and back then that stuff was true. I was on the tail end of that era. My 1st boat was a bit rough around the edges and we lived like pirates. My last boat, at that time the newest the navy had, we were spoiled with real flush toilets and an unlimited supply of fresh and hot water with huge sanitary tanks and a massive torpedo room. The young sailors on her were spoiled from the jump. They would see the movie playing at Sublets and think it was work of fiction....
