Just got off the phone with Grizzly customer service and they said this next shipment is due this week as in Friday. They also said All backordered lathes will ship from this batch. So if like me you have been waiting patiently for your lathe, It`s on the way! ;) I am hoping they have all the "minor" issues fixed at this point and all will be great! Thanks to Roger and all you guy`s for the superb threads on this lathe and all the info. Nice to know we have such a great knowledge base and folks who share their expertise and experience so freely.

Good to hear that date is holding, I was waiting to check back again on Friday. If it holds they will likely ship next week.

Hmm perhaps you guy`s in the great north west are getting a different shipment than the ones coming out of the Missouri warehouse. I would think you guy`s would get them first.

I was told the other day in email from Abby at Grizzly-CS, that my lathe was going to arrive (somewhere?) on June 26th, and I had asked them to hold off on shipping to new address for 30 days while I get moved and into the new house. I believe I ordered on May 14th. I am pretty jazzed by the prospects of being able to turn on a steady lathe more than once a month. I also was informed by them that the 5.5" chuck kits were going to be arriving on August 7th. At the price listed on line, it's too good to pass up on (with all of the jaw sets, and cole jaws, etc.). I just wish I had a review from someone as to the quality. I suppose if their no good I could return for refund or credit.

Just got a note from Grizzly in response to my inquiring about my lathe.

"Thank you for your email dated June 24, 2015.

We are happy to assist you. After reviewing your order, I have found that the G0766 is expected to arrive in our warehouse on approximately July 6, 2015. Once received, backorders are processed and shipped to arrive in approximately three to five business days. We do fill backorders first."

Looks like I will get mine about the 13th of July.

We are happy to assist you. After reviewing your order, I have found that the G0766 is still expected to arrive in our warehouse on approximately June 22, 2015. Once received, backorders are processed and shipped to arrive in approximately three to five business days. We do fill backorders first. You should automatically receive a confirmation email with tracking information after the order has shipped. ( I live in northwest Florida)

Well, I got a shipping confirmation e-mail last night. It is coming out of Bellingham. Says it is going to deliver on Monday. I was going to pick it up at the terminal so it might be there today. I guess I need to make a phone call.

****Update. It got stuck in Everett and won't make the 4 hr drive to Portland before the Freight terminal closes for the week. I guess I will be picking it up next Thursday.

Received the shipping conformation e-mail this morning. I guess they were correct on the back orders, however mine is coming via Fed-EX from Bellingham  don`t know how that happened but. Can`t wait! I guess maybe you guy`s in the great north west may get yours as well.

Can't wait to hear more updates from this 3rd shipment. I was lucky, like Roger, to get mine in the first batch. I still can't believe how nice this lathe is. The power, the sheer mass, the quality, I know each of you will be very pleased.

James........I truly hope that this time around, you find everything up to par with your unit. If you do, I think you will be a happy camper! Not sure if there has been enough time for Grizzly to set new specs and get new machining for the tool rest, however. I just do not think there has been enough time to correct that issue yet.

Any ideas on how you will address that if yours is a bit too high? I suppose you have been keeping tabs on the thread about the rest.

Congrats Gary! Kind of figured you great north west guy`s would get notified after I found out mine was coming from Bellingham.

Roger, just spoke with Grizzly about the tool rest situation. Managed to get the same gentleman you did and he said they had no more tool rests to ship out. However they are looking at a complete fix and would let me know ASAP.Thanks for all your valued input on this!

Thanks Roger, me too! I'll check back with them probably Monday, not sure I'll have time tomorrow. I doubt they will have new tool rests for another few months, I expect them to provide a proper one. The replacement one they have been shipping out is just as off as the stock one. I'll order some aftermarket curved rests once I have a ship date, I may weld some custom ones as well.

I'm sure this lathe will suit my needs just fine, as long as I get good one this go around!

I went to Grizzly's website and clicked on lathes, then the g0766........there is a box now to enter your zip code. I entered mine and the display said the Missouri and Pennsylvania distribution centers are out of stock, but the Bellingham center has the G0766 in stock.

I do remember that those who have received emails from Grizzly state that backorders are filled first, so you that have ordered, but not yet received your lathes should be hearing something shortly, I would think.

Thanks Dok, but Grizzly has yet to make good. I chewed them out today, they have another 24 hours to make things right with me then I'm done. So after tomorrow I'll be ordering from another company.

Congrats on on yours though, hope you enjoy it.

James I certainly hope they make it right with you and you can get your lathe ASAP.

Well Fed-EX Strikes out again!! They called and told me my lathe won`t be here until Thursday now. Oh and Ooops we are sorry it got "delayed" ie forgotten in the transfer from one truck to another. Atypical Fed-Ex  what are you going to do.

I guess Fed-Ex is used to handling things that are smaller and weigh less most of the time, Dok! Sorry to hear about your delay, and I hope they get this to you by Thursday! Forgot to transfer from one truck to another.............hummm......hard to miss the 600 lb elephant in the truck, I would think!

That's how it should be done!!!

The SIAI semi driver parked in the middle of the HWY in front our house.......under a blind hill. Got out and was on his Bluetooth the whole time. Stared at where the garage was and didn't know how to get the item over the gravel. (I had liftgate service) Wife was holding phone for 911 the whole time.....and there was no reason he couldn't have backed into our 1 acre long shared driveway. He is a Darwin just waiting for his glory. Lucky I wasn't home.....I would have made him move his truck and do it right.

Congrats Cary and Jeramie! Glad to see you got yours. Mine came today as well! Fed-Ex driver drove down the block turned around and left  I had to flag him down and he came back. This time he maneuvered right to my driveway and unloaded and in the Garage we went. :D So crate is in and Progress so far. Can`t wait to finish!!

OOOHHH - The excitement is growing at a fever pitch :) I really cannot wait to get mine in a few weeks. I will see if I can get our machine shop to remove the 3/4" length on the shaft, or I'll take it to a tool & die house down the road from work. I think I can fabricate a new tool rest from bar stock, and thread the shaft, and tap a hole in the rest similar to Oneway's. Time will tell if I need to do that.

Mark, you could probably get by just fine with an additional 5/8" off........that is only 1/8" less than the 3/4" I did to my rest, but frankly at this point........the easiest thing to do is probably to get an aftermarket rest like the Robust or BestWood tools round rest...........I just did mine to show what I believe should have been the proper stop point on the post of the rest, trying to help all the others who ordered this unit.

James Conrad

Roger, what is the total height of the robust rests you got measured from the top of the rest to bottom of the post?

Roger, what is the total height of the robust rests you got measured from the top of the rest to bottom of the post?

James.......the 15" comfort rest from Robust measures 7-3/8" total length, and the inside curve bowl rest is 7-1/4" total length. Both are considered the long post from Robust, and they both work really well on the G0766.

I just home from a day of July 3rd festivities, and in my email box was a note from the TAW club secretary of a fellow selling everything due to moving to AZ. A Laguna 1642 lathe,a dn all the tool rests you could imaging as well as shapers, planers, dust collection systems at 30% retail. I called and it's all gone already. He had a whole set of the BestWoods reversible bowl rests as well as straights and t-bars all with 1x5.75" posts. Darned the luck. I would've bought it all and saved a bunch. Oh well.

Well I got it all put together. The legs cam loose in the box and rubbed on the bed. Nothing you can feel. It rubbed the paint off the legs and the tailstock. I called yesterday to get some touch up paint abut the gal I talked to wasn't sure if they could ship paint. I decided to try again Monday. I fixed the headstock so my chucks can seat all the way. I added some bling by replacing the plastic tailstock hand wheel handle with a chromed metal one. I hate plastic handles. It runs very quiet. It is at least as quiet as my Jet 1642.

I had a little fun with the welder. I fixed the tool rest issue as you can see in the picture. I also made a mobile base like the lift lock and roll. It went fine except the lift part. I have to crow bar it up. but once it is up it is good. I rounded the lift blocks thinking it would lift easy. That might have been where I wet wrong. It's been a long 3 days in the 90 and 100 degree heat so I will revisit it later.
