I've been searching and have come across some posts about using a grill motor to slowly turn a bowl or vessel while applying a finish like epoxy or poly. The slow turning levels out the finish so it doesn't run and drip I'm told.

I'm wondering how you attach the work to the rod going into the motor?

A simple way is an adapter with the same threads as your lathe spindle.

I used a piece of all thread with the same threads as my spindle. Use two 2x6 up rights with a cross piece for support, add a pulley on one end, your lathe chuck on the other end. A grill rotisserie motor should power it, but I used a regular electric motor and pulleys to slow it all down.

This is NOT MY PIC but it will give you ideas or what I described
