Dyed Box Elder Container

This is spalted box elder that I dyed green. The black ring on the lid is cherry ebonized with India ink. 6.5 inches high by 4 inches wide, finished with spray lacquer.

I like the shape. It looks like it would be well suited for wood burning designs or scenes. I can also see where it would be a good shape for a pierced turning.
Did you use a sealer (de-waxed shellac or BLO) before dying the piece?

I haven't tried using a sealer before dyeing yet.

I think the dye color selection works really well with the natural flame color of the BE. Nice looking piece Toby.
