Take the old belt and go to a belt store for a replacement.

Michelle,
Try ereplacementparts.com. Search Dewalt 735 planer and click on the diagrams. The v-belt is part number 5140010-28 and is $38.08 and they have 20 in stock. I ordered some parts from them on a Biesemeyer fence once and got exactly what I ordered.

I've used them also with good results.

I used them before when my uncle dropped my circular saw and bent the shoe, probably more expensive than ereplacementparts. I will have to look at them in the future. I think I need to replace the brushes on my miter saw.

hmmm..I went and checked ereplacement and the ribs are going the wrong way on the belt ..on mine the ribs go the long way and ride in the pulley? ribs..I checked the amazon belt and it looks nothing like it. My Dewalt is older..maybe a year or two after they first came out. I wonder if that is an issue.

Grab the model number off the unit and type it into the servicenet.dewalt.com. Or find the same unit and follow the links on the page to the parts department.

thanks Andrew...I finally got thru to Dewalt..they gave me their repair center, and I was able to talk to a repair fella..he says the belts are different, but will work. Service net had no picture, so i didn't dare order it..my Dewalt book has no parts number and what I could find online had no belt #. Hopefully I will get the new belt in 2 days..thanks everyone
