Menards sells Hickory brand (I think that is Menard's own hardware brand), and Home Depot sells Liberty. They are both full-extension slides, and they're pretty inexpensive.

I'm familiar with Accuride. And I can get them at Rockler/Woodcraft. But I sort of don't want to drive all the way out to Rockler or Woodcraft for one pair of slides.

BTW, both Hickory and Liberty are available is self-closing and the prices seem pretty reasonable.

So I'm wondering if I'll regret using the Hickory or Liberty brands.

Thoughts?

The slides from Home Depot aren't any better than the super cheap ones I've bought from CS hardware for 1/4-1/3 the price.

I'd buy from the above site unless you wanted really nice Blum/Accuride ones. Note that they don't include screws, however. Sold in pairs.

The home center ones are just junk, you'll definitely regret it. The side-mount Hettich and KV ones from CS Hardware are much nicer and 1/2 the price.

Come to think of it, CS Hardware is right near you in Milwaukee. http://www.cshardware.com/contacts

I have gotten 28 slides from HD, all for the shop cabinets and have been very happy with them. The last 4 pair I got were the self closing and they work just fine.
I have some of them that I have been using for 8 years and have had no problems, they have a lot of weight in the drawers and get used a lot.

Thank you guys. I didn't want to drive to Rockler or Woodcraft, and Custom is a 45-minute round-trip, too.

What I hadn't realized is that Custom will ship for $5, and it still is less expensive than Menards or HD.

When they say sold as a SET, they mean enough for one drawer, right?

Bill, thanks for the feedback, I feel safe using them on your recommendation (and the Home Depot/Menards/Custom units look nearly identical in the pics) but I'll save the trip altogether and just get some shipped to me by Custom.

I've never had a problem with slides from either of the big two big box stores. Some are going in 30 years old and they see daily use.

I have gotten all my slides from wwhardware and paid about $6 each for full extension ones. Cheap and work well

If I may. For the most part all slides "work" If commercially acceptable slides are necessary, look for ANSI or BIFMA certification. I find commercially acceptable brands, Accuride, Blum, Grass KV Hettich, etc. are actually less expensive from cabinet hardware suppliers. You will also find House brands at Woodcraft, Rockler, or Woodworkers Supply etc.very good. The big boxes are convenient, not specialist suppliers, you won't find special purpose hardware, and usually more money. JMHO.

Another endorsement for CSH.

Edit: Been a mostly happy customer for many years.
