I got the tool in an eBay auction, and it seems to be in great shape. It came with one cutter, the two-piece v-point one, but I bought a 1/2" straight one from Lee Valley that fits nicely.

Would like to sharpen the v-point one, but was wondering how best to do it. The blade dismounts from the post when I remove the screw.

Lee Valley makes a holder for their two piece router cutters and makes it easier to get in contact with the stones. Not sure if their holder will work on the Stanley cutter.

You may need to fashion one from a piece of metal or other material.

The v-point cutter for my router has become my go to blade.

With the LV one I've kept it screwed to the post and used it on a stone near the edge of the table so the post can hand down the edge.

For small things like that, I use flattened sides (edges) of my waterstones.

I was going to reply, "very carefully." But the suggestions above I hadn't thought of...should work great. Thanks for posting the question.
