Turning Bald Cypress

Has anyone used Bald Cypress for turning bowls or other turned items?

Is fun! Makes you feel like a pro when the curlies start flying.
Light colored wood for the most part, and light in weight too. Stuff I've turned has dark little dots/ "inclusions" that are just a character of the wood. Does move some if a little green.

Thanks for the info. I got 8 very nice blanks for bowls up to 14 inches. They are quite wet

The light colored wood looks good with bark on natural edge pieces. The wood is soft but turns nicely when wet.

made a yarn bowl with it turns well and sands easily takes finish evenly. I think it is stronger than pine but not much heavier.
