I found this frame saw while cleaning out my late father-in-law's remaining shop items. The logo reads Pennsylvania Saw Corp., York, PA, USA. Blade length is 20", frame is steel nominally 1/4" by 3/4". It weighs 33 oz. What is your impression of this saw and its use? Is this designed to saw dovetails, tenons, etc. like a European frame saw?
It seems too long and heavy for fine work.

These were more for cutting Pork Chops, then cutting wood. Before meat-cutters went to bandsaws, they used these saws.

Hi Jeff,

I am in complete agreement with Steven. It looks like a butchers saw to me. It was used to cut through the bones in large pieces of meat, as Steven mentioned like a ham. My aunt had one of those and I sharpened it for her once long ago.

Guys-
Thanks for your help! The construction makes more sense now.
