I have an old door with character that will be changed from an in-swing to and out-swing today. First, it needs to be squared since with time it isn't close. The old jamb was ruined so the new one is the PVC type that has the door stop already fused into it. This makes using a router impossible with the new jamb when it comes to hinges and the strike plate. So one question is, how does one "chisel" PVC for hinges? Also sine the door with be squared and a bit smaller, would you folks adhere a wood outer casing to the PVC jamb in order to stiffen it up? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
