Long-time lurker, infrequent poster here. Just thought I'd share my most recent turning. This walnut burl comes from a walnut orchard in the Central Valley of California. Got it from a friend who got some scraps from the owner of the orchard. I was going to go all natural edge, and turned the outside accordingly. But turning the inside, I couldn’t get clean cuts on the inside of the spikeys, one broke, and I kept hitting my fingers (ouch). I'm not so good at turning mostly air at this point. So I ended up turning them off, leaving a little natural edge for a rustic look. Sanded to 600 grit, burnished with shavings, and finished with multiple coats of gloss wipe-on poly. Measures around 6" x 3".

I'm not a fan of flat bottom bowls, but in this case it works well. The plain sides draw your attention down to the burl figure at the bottom and really show it off. Nice job. I like the rim too. Don't forget to sign it.
