I had asked about hybrid saw filing and used parts of your replies. When I looked closely at the teeth on the saw it looked pretty bad so I decided to do a complete re tooth. Since the saw will be used for general bench work I decide to go with 10 tip. I used the 1/10 per inch scale on the tongue of my rafter square after jointing the blade clean. I filed the saw with a 15* rake and 6* fleam. Amazingly it cuts ok and straight as well. I may have a little too much set but I'll try it for a while and see.313960313959 Thanks again Jim

I can't claim any ownership for the suggestion.

I was instructed to try this, and it's easier than more refined filing methods.

Congrats on your willingness to try something new.

I think the quality of the steel in the saws from this era is underated -
you've likely got a really fine pattern on these little teeth
and the proof of that is in your test cuts.
