Good morning: Anyone have any experience laser-cutting Kirinite?

I don't have any experience with it but it bears a resemblance to previous materials used for knife handles like pakkawood, diamondwood, various melamines and other brand named stuff with various materials impregnated into wood or plastics to improve their wear.

I have found all (that I have tried) to be laser engravable. They tend to be dense and require more than one pass. Like all other untried materials I would sneak up on it power wise until I found a workable setting.

I have cut phenolic a few times. As long as it is thin it cuts okay. I found that 2mm cuts on my 60watt but 6mm has no chance at all. Yes it does have a sooty edge to it. You can see my pictures here http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?218906-Cutting-Phenolic-FR2
