Hi guys,

I am trying to cut the attached quote as a stencil from mylar but whatever stencil font and machine settings I use the inside parts of the 'p' etc dont stay because the little joiny bits are too thin.

Any ideas on how I can get it to work so it fits into the 150mm wide box a shown?

I have just realised that I have forgoten to change the cutting line to red/hairline but I had when I was trying to cut the file so I know thats not the reason for the help

Thanks in advance for any help,

Graham

Hi Graham,

What font are you using as I tried opening it and couldn't? You simply have to make the text outlines and widen the connecting paths. Can you save it as outlines and as an eps and I will have a look.

convert the letters to curves and then you can move the nodes to make the joins wider.

I have tried several of the free fonts to no avail.

I dont have an option to save as an EPS file (even though it says howe to do this in the help bit of CD X7) so have resaved it as normal - hopefully you can open that and help me out

I can't see anything in your quote_V2, it's probably saved in X7? Save it down to something less and more people can see it.

For eps, go to "file", "Export" and you should be able to pick eps.

Take 3  I have exported it as an EPS file and saved it but it now exceeds the file limit of 107.8KB for this file type - it is 381KB :(

I will resave it as a lower version - thanks for your patience as I know you all have work to do

Try this...

OK, opened it, all I do is get the eraser tool and set it to the width that my laser allows before the substrate falls apart and painstakingly go through and widen each gap. You can do this with any typeface, so it doesn't need to be a stencil type font....just create gaps where needed like so....

Great tip Jit! That's much more elegant looking than normal stencil fonts!

Well done.
