I'll be shipping several handsaws soon and was wondering what the best method out there is? Does usps make a good box?

I have never shipped one, but have received a couple off Ebay and the best method I saw...someone took a couple of pieces of cedar fence and roughly shaped them to go around the plate, then used shrink wrap to make sure they would not move. The boards were slightly proud of the handle as well as the plate.

There are other good articles and tips on Mark's site. Plus some great saws.

I just packed up several in preparation for moving and found a tenor ukulele box was just about right.

Two of those are coming my way! If you need to remove the handles to make them fit I am fine with that.

I learned this method from Ron Bontz.

Buy some 1/2 thick hard foam board.
With some adhesive, tape or twine wrap the
plate with foam on either side.

Build out until it's even with the width of the handle.
Extend two pieces, full length to cover the handle
to more than one half inch beyond the 'horns'.

Fit into proper sized box.

I've shipped Miterbox saws with this method using
1/8" plywood as the outside layer.

Saws are tough.
Damage is done if they rattle around in their boxes.

Received in great shape, and the crate was so nice that I am going to use it to store them!

Jessie,

Do you still have saws left from that major score? Are still selling them, if so can you tell me what you have left
