Wheeler, Madden & Clemson was acquired by Disston in 1893. http://www.davistownmuseum.org/bioDisston.htm
The No. 52 Handsaw was not listed in any of the Wheeler, Madden & Clemson Catalogue's up until 1895. That's 2 years after being acquired by Disston. http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.backsaw.net%2Fforum%2Findex.php %3Fthreads%2Ff-constantine-backsaw.137%2F
It can only be assumed their must have been some legal agreement by Disston to allow Wheeler, Madden & Clemson to continue operating as a business for a period of at least 2 years after the acquisition date of 1893.
Based on all the above; it could be suggested that the No.52 Handsaw was manufactured from 1893 to post 1895.
But what is not known is: What date after the 1895 Catalogue did Wheeler, Madden & Clemson actually cease operating as a business.
