Would it be heresy to file the jaws on my Diston saw vice?

I have one and for the life of me, I am bothered by the slight misalignment on top of the jaws. I have resisted filing the jaws to make them absolutely flush.

I could flatten them with a file in short order. I don't think it affects the clamping of the saw, but . . . . . ............

Yea, I know I misspelled Disston.

I have already done it. It looks like a marginal saw vise anyway.

And, the shiny jaws helped with the successful sharpening of my 8tpi crosscut panel saw. It was my first time to sharpen a crosscut. The Ron Herman video about sharpening handsaws is a great resource.
