Had a few "Junker" planes. A Parplus No.5 jack plane, a SEARS/ Millers Falls cracked side No.4, and a Corsair C-4 with OEM box. Doubtful I could even make my money back on them. However, there is a store just down the road. They buy sell and trade just about anything old and "junky". Took the three planes in, set them on the counter. Asked about trading for a couple other items in their "supply"
Got done, had some long plane with a No.6 on the back end, and some little saw by Disston, and sons. Not a penny was exchanged. Got the two items home for a clean up

This is the saw. Has and etch on the steel spline, and an etch on the saw plate. Doubt IF it is a No. 4? We'll see.
As for that longish plane? Must have been 1/2" of mud and crud on the deck, took a hammer drill to lossen the bolts. Gave the base a soak in WD40

Has a frog adjust bolt, two patent dates and a groovy bottom. After maybe an hour of cleaning, tuning, and so on, a decent 18" long plane began to appear

This has a low knob out front. The rear handle looked like a dog had chewed on it. Sanded it back a bit, both handles have a coat and wipe of BLO. The wheel is almost tiny. There is STANLEY on the lateral. Two pat. dates. No SW on the iron. Instead it has the Stanley Rule and Level Co. stamp. Not too bad, for trading a couple of junk planes? I wonder IF they will trade some more? :D

Hi Steven,

Wow! +1 on what Judson said. You ended up with a Stanley type 10, it looks like, number 6 plane in nice shape and a Disston saw too. You did great!

Don't know much about the saw, but that plane is anything but a junker!

Well, put both to work for a bit. The #6 to shave a couple legs

and set the DE6c beside it

Looking like a couple of Cruisers sitting by the docks.. As for the saw?
312871
Working as a crosscut saw. Surprizingly quite sharp, even cuts straight
312872
Just might do?
312873
Cast steel......Warranted, and there is an etch in the saw plate, too. Might be a decent dovetail saw?
