Hi,

Recently got these PW bases.

Makes a great router even better.

The PC 310 is pretty quiet for a 30,000 rpm tool!
The DW 618 is in my opinion the almost perfect balance of size/weight/shape...almost...Last weekend I held the Festool 1400.

I wish I knew about the 1400 1-1/2 years ago when I got the DeWalt.

The plunge action on the Festool is like driving a '75 Eldorado Convertible on new tarmac.

In the summer.

I got the same bases in the mail today for my 618. I will probably get a trimmer eventually. I was considering between the new Bosch and the PC 310. Congrats on the new bases and routers!

Corey,

I went for the PC 310 after almost getting the 7310 and then it was down to the new Bosch colt or the 310 and after holding both it was the squat 310 for me.
And I wanted a piece of American Industrial history before it was shipped to Malaysia or China.;)

Good luck with your bases, let me know what you think!

Pete,
Nice score! It looks like you'll be set for routers - until your next project which will naturally require that Festool! ;)

Now, all you need to do is make some sawdust to mess up that pristine shop some!!

Wes,

I spent 20 minutes cleaning my bench and blowing out the routers 'cause I knew you'd be looking!
My wife peeked her head in the shop, said "you are out of your mind" and shut the door.

I am.

I would probably come up with the same pick. That is the very reason I picked the DW 618 over the Bosch 1617. The low sqwatty feel was perfect!

Pete, are you able to still use the dust extraction piece in the pluger base. It kind of looks like you have it installed?

Corey,

The Bosch Colt has so many nice features (so does the new Ridgid) but it still felt too tall and tippy and thin, great if you are working with plam in tight quarters but for me it's a hand-held router for hinge mortise and edge forming.
Also, I liked the PC 310 depth adjustment ring hands down over the others.

Pete, after several emails back and forth with Pat, I pretty much got the impression that he still likes the PC's better than the Bosch. One thing he told me was that he didn't see the need for the VS, but for some of the work I want to do like sign lettering, I could see some uses.

I have several of Pats bases. Well made, and Pats a great guy to deal with.

Pat's stuff is top-notch. I always enjoy looking at the pictures of his fixtures...he makes some pretty neat stuff. He can be a bit "direct" from time to time, but that's not a horrible thing, either...sometimes you have to say it like it is!
