After getting the tip off these were approaching our shores I spoke to Chris at HPC today and have one on order for delivery early next month (May) (Chris is off on Business next week, but HPC is open)

I must say from what I'm hearing these are going to be a tube to reckon with, The usual DC tube has a gas reservoir and a resonator (the bit that holds the plasma arc) with all the usual gubbins at both ends. The new EFR F series has TWO resonators in the main tube body all held within the normal 80mm diameter so allowing a 220 watt tube to be compacted down to a 1,700mm overall length and the 180 watt in a 1,500mm length.
They can either be fitted into the standard mounts or into a semi-quick change box unit like the top line GSI SLC tubes but these differ in that the first mirror is now part of this external box unit and the entire thing is designed to be swapped out as one piece. The box is pre-aligned so should just be a case of 4 bolts to be undone, swap cavity unit, tighten bolts and away you go.

They do require some almost industrial cooling with either a heavy duty single chiller or two of the CW4000 spec (CW5200 x 2) due to the operating voltage of 52,000v with peak power being achieved at 35mA (the same as a standard 150 watt)

Price...I'm getting the word that UK retail will be £4,000 ($6,000) with all the required stuff including a power supply that looks to be big enough to supply the national grid http://oplaser.co.uk/opsupport/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

As soon as the strip down piccys arrive and more info becomes available I'll post it up http://oplaser.co.uk/opsupport/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

cheers

Dave
