I purchased a used Delta 18" 28-682 bandsaw and now need to purchase some replacement guides. The lower bracket has broke and can no longer hold the thrust bearing piece. The upper guides are not the best either and have been spot welded before I got the saw. I contacted Carter and they no longer have anything that will work with a Delta 18" saw.

Does anyone know of any other replacement guides that will work or where I can get a replacement lower guide bracket. I found the part online but it is $125 before shipping. I will also need to know where to get replacement bearings as they are probably the originals and need to be replaced.

See pictures below.

thanks for your help,
Steve

Can't help you on the guides, but uploading pictures is always a good idea for the good of the forum. 10 years from now someone might be looking for information on this, and your Dropbox site link will likely not work.
For the guides, I bet you could modify another saws guide to work if you need to, they aren't that complicated.

Bearings you can get from just about anywhere. On the other side of the coin you do know that Delta went out of business?

I know Delta was on the outs, but I think they never went out of business and seem to be going strong. http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/update-delta-power-equipment/

You might want to talk with Louis Iturra at Iturra Design. He is the Oracle of C-Frame Bandsaws.

Search for Iturra here, you will find contact phone #. He has always been tremendously helpful.

MY mistake - just realized yours is not a C-Frame. Never mind................

I just talked to Louis Iturra, and was lucky enough to have his last conversion kit for my saw :)

Too funny - it worked out, when I thought it wouldn't. Rock'n'roll is here to stay.
