Typical wall oven opening for a 30” wall oven is 28 ½”….Meaning on 1.5” stiles, that leaves an opening of 27”, requiring some cutting out of the stiles to get to the 28” opening.

I am sure I am not the first to do this, but I wanted to see if I am missing something before I finalize my wall oven cabinet dimensions.

I am just going to make my wall oven cabinet 31 ½” which will leave me with the 28 ½” I need for my wall oven.

I have the distance since my wall oven is on the end, any side effects from doing this?

If you do not have the installation guide you can find it on the manufactures website. My experience is the best sources of this information.

I do have the guide, it is where I got the 28 1/2" from. Most all 30" wall ovens have the same 28 1/2" cut out to fit the oven into place.

No problem at all doing that Justin, I've done it multiple times. Another options you have to make the cabinet a bit deeper than the standard 24". I do that when a countertop abuts the side of the cabinet so it doesn't stick out. I don't have a good picture showing this, but here's the same idea in a fridge cabinet312404

Thanks Mark...quick question, see my sketch below.

Do you have a plywood carcass behind that decorative end panel?

I usually make them as an integral panel to the cabinet, not an add-on. Not all situations allow this method however.312417

For an oven cabinet I construct it without the panel behind it overall but then add a piece on each side of the bottom section to act as a cleat to hold the double thick shelf that the oven sits on.

Thanks.....

Double thick shelf, I didn't think of that, mine is just a single dado-ed into the carcass.

I see your point though, up to 300lbs, I guess the double thick shelf makes sense.
