Here is a keepsake box I made for my wife from bubinga, birdseye maple and maple from plans I saw in Wood a while back. The top view shows a curly maple veneered panel that is intended as a filler on the inside of the lid when my wife does a piece of needlepoint for the top.
It is 7 1/2" X 9 1/2" and 3" tall.

WOW!! Big Mike - That is one awesome box. The choice of wood and finish is great. What issue of WOOD had these plans. I might want to make one as a present for my niece's wedding and either put the wedding invitation or a picture from the wedding in the top.

Very nice Mike,
I guess it doesn't matter if it is square or round, you can sure make a beautiful box. :)
Great Job Mike ;)

Ralph, thanks for the compliments. The plans were in the November 2001 issue. A fun project to make.... :D

Mike,
Fantastic, as usual for one of your boxes! Round, Flat or Square - you truly are a Box-Master!
Great work, nice finish - overall super!
