My LOML gave me a LV Scrub plane for Father's Day and until recently, I hadn't used it. Two weeks ago a neighbor gave me a Stanley #45 as a gift and I've decided to build a wood box to keep it in, the neander way. After riping Ash 5/4 stock to 9/16" plus or minus thick, I've been planing the balance flat. The LV Scrub plane is doing a wonderful job of knocking the excess wood off. It's a joy to use. I'm then using a WWII Stanley #5 I inherited from my father to further flatten the stock. I'm enjoying the process throughly.
