Hello All:
In doing various internet searches I find a lot of folks complaining about the universal motor on the Makita 2040 Planer. Low power, high noise.
I'm interested in switching mine out for a good RI motor but the space available for a motor is very limited. So, I'd be very interested in hearing from someone who has actually done this swap. I have found old posts from 08 and 09 by David Freed who says he did this swap but he no longer seems to be active on woodworking forums. He alludes to it being somewhat difficult and I can certainly imagine that it would be. So, anyone else here actually done the swap or seen one done? Would really appreciate hearing from you or seeing pics.
