Hi guys. This is my first entry on the turners section. I normally talk Neanderthal talk. Anyway I'm gonna be buying a 1977 powermatic 90. I have read alot about this machine. But I have a few other questions. 1. Can 2 people move this machine around if it's taken into 2 parts. 2. This is a former HS machine, but has been restored. Is there anything I should be looking for specifically..
Thank you and very much look forward to turning my first bowl. Sam

It depends on how strong they are and how good their backs.
Assume you will still have troubles with the Reeves (variable speed) drive.
NEVER try to change speeds with the lathe off.

Sam,

FYI, Steve Fulgoni from The Woodturning Store has a Youtube channel where he demos a number of things on a PM 90. I think he has 2 or 3 of them but he's begun recent demos on a Robust AB since he's a dealer for them. He probably know as much about your machine as anyone else. Those 90's are certainly sweet machines, nice score.
