What are the pros/cons of 300 vs 400, in terms of size/cost? I'm looking at 80watt machine.

I kicked the tires of a lot of lasers about 6 months ago. As far as I know, the only difference between the two is the size and the cost.

One difference I found out about today is that the 400 has pass-through and the 300 doesn't.

I have a Rayjet 300, 80 watt and am seriously looking at a Speedy 400, 80 watt by the end of the year.'
I have too much riding on just one machine.

Pass through is a major benefit but you also have a much larger Z axis and a variety of table configurations on the SP400.

How does the table option work, is there a flat surface on which you place the chosen table grid, vac platen or knife style?

Essentially the table design is a tray and you can put aluminium grid, slats, vac bed, engraving table or honeycomb on top, it is a 60 second job to switch from one type to another and they all lock into place for accuracy.

Do you know the apx cost of the other beds and is there a general purpose one?

Neville - I work for Trotec Laser UK so I don't know what is done in the US but over here we supply 2 of the options as standard, which ones are the choice of the customer on the advice of the local rep, what is your application?

Well thanks very much for your time on a Sunday Bryan. There's only one included and in my case, it's listed as the "Black cutting grid" sounds like the knife edge array. The other options is a vacuum type bed and a "lamella", no idea what that is. I have a similar knife edge surface on my chinese machine and a honeycomb for small parts but the Trotec will be primarily an engraver. Greetings from Dublin via Austin , by the way.

Neville... Very happy with my 400. Both the 300 & 400 are nice machines... Biggest advantage for me was the larger table size. I haven't used the pass through yet, but plan to.

I have two of the differnt beds, what in North America is called the small parts table ( the grid affair that snaps into the frame) & the heavy duty tray ( all metal snap in). I believe the other two are the vacuum table for paper etc & the blades. The beds do really change over in under a minute.

Personally I like the way the Trotec's are built, & yes the cost is up there but given the choice I would do it again.
