I have some quarter sawn sapele that has remarkable figure. I'm making a saw handle for a Disston 7 handsaw.
I plan on a coat of boiled linseed oil to pop the figure. Next, I plan on several coats of amber shellac to put the shine on the handle.
I'm thinking of finishing with several coats of Deft Clear Finish as needed to cap it off.

Is this a good recipe for what I'm doing?

Thanks

The wood surface is not hard like maple, cherry, or walnut. It needs some help being smooth. It sands nicely, making a smooth surface, but not slick surface.

I've decided to go with clear shellac to seal the wood and to follow up with satin wipe on poly.

Any thoughts on this.
