Check out the lathe made by a young 15 year old. He posted his build over on "Instructables" (http://www.instructables.com/id/Mini-Wood-Lathe/?ALLSTEPS). After seeing that there should be no reason a person with access to some wood working equipment shouldn't have a small lathe. To give him and others proper credit, he does indicate that he is using plans from an issue of the "Shop Notes" magazine. In reading his post I also watched his imbedded video of the project on YouTube and noted several other home-built lathe videos available. Some of you folks debating whether to dive into the Vortex and lacking funds may want to take a serious look.
