Stripped Out Plane Knob Hole...

What can be done about a stripped out knob screw hole in a plane? Can the hole be filled with something and rethreaded or something?

I recall posting a link about refurbishing old planes in response to an earlier question of yours. If you search > junker to jointer < you will find it. In the lengthy thread, what worked for me is included as well as solutions others found to work for them. I believe there is also a link to a source for the 12-20 tap you will need with a more detailed explanation of its use.

You could drill it out & tap to a slightly larger size. Then screw in (& loctite) a steel stud. Then drill & tap that back to the original size.
