I received an INCRA 1000HD miter gauge last Christmas. I really like the gauge and of course most good aftermarket miter gauges blow away the guages that come with even top quality table saws (Like my PM66). My question is: Has anyone come up with a clever storage solution for their INCRA or any of the other larger aftermarket miter guages? Again, the INCRA gauge is great but it seems to be in the way when it's not being used.

Thanks in advance,
Hank

I don't know if its clever Henry, and mine tends to be left in place since it's mounted on one end of a long slider and is awkward to remove - but hanging it on a hook in a vertical surface through a hole in the bar might be an option..

I store mine on a shelf underneath my workbench. Of course that's the on the other side of the table saw so I always have to walk around the saw to get it. Reading this post however I'm thinking maybe I should find a way to hang it.

Perhaps something where it hangs vertically with the miter bar hanging down? Just two hooks that hold up the fence might suffice. You might be able to mount that on the side of the table saw cabinet.

Mine sits on the stand I made for the hollow chisel mortiser. It's neither elegant or particularly convenient, but it does get it out of the way when needed.

I use a couple of short sections of 2x4 and made a rack to store it on. The adjustment tool hangs on an I-hook behind it (visible in the picture).

I store my Incra 2000 on the fence storage brackets that came with my Unisaw.

I built a small open ended box that it slides in when not in use. It is mounted under the right extension and the cabinet with all the other TS stuff.

I wish I knew why the pictures turn 90 degrees on the iPad.

Good idea to keep the adjustment tool with the miter gauge Kevin.

Mine ain't pretty but it works. I hung a split 2x4 from a cleat. The miter bar goes in between the split.

I am out of space for storage on my walls but I really needed to get my Incra 100HD miter gauge out of the way so I looked up and decided to mount on my I-Beam. 2-Beam clamps, 2- 1/4" x 20 bolts and some rubber tubing for protection and it's up and out of the way.

I used two shaker pegs and hung it on the wall.

Nice setup you have there, can you share some more pics of that cabinet?

311519Keith,
Somehow I missed your request for more pictures, my appologies. hope this photo helps.

The top is a torsion box with P-Lam surface and hard maple edge. The drawers are 1/2" BB with domino joints and 1/2" maple faces, Tru-Trac TT100 slides (less than $5 from Woodworkers Hardware) and the pulls (ZYN-4081 approx $2@) are from GlideRite via Amazon. I used screw foot levelers to deal with the uneven floor. Inexpensive hardware for the shop.

Like most things in my shop the cabinet is not yet finished (still need a door on the router cab, baseboard all around, and finish on the maple) I have been trying to upgrade/re-do the shop between commissions or when a project is in the finishing room but something always comes up.

If you want/need more info please do not hesitate to PM me.

I borrowed your idea. It puts the gauge about 6" out of reach and requires a stepstool, so I will have to try something else. But for the moment it beats being on the floor, which is where it has been stored for the last year.

I'm a Luddite on this one - - a few steps away is my CMS, with a ply housing/dust catcher built around it. The gauge gets tossed on top. I do have a couple cleat-like-gizmos on the side of that box for the wrench/drive, and the stop when it has to come off.
