Someone got an idea?
I simply don't know.

Hints: It came from a flooring mfg, of laminate flooring. These boards appear to be the thin top that they glue on top of a laminate board. It's just under 1/8" thick.

I don't think it's Mahogany.
Bubinga?

It looks like some Teak I have around here in the last picture, but you have more teak than any one I know. I don't think it has enough red to be Bubinga. It looks like something I have around here but I just can't put a finger on it for sure.

How hard is it?

Hmmm, Jatoba.....
And, Jatoba is popular with flooring.
I'm leaning that way too, now....
It seems relatively hard.

Jatoba is extremely hard, thats why I asked. It looks a bit like the Jatoba that I call for bad color. I have some in the shop and went and looked at it, and I am not so sure. Because jatoba is so hard it has a sheen when planed, and that stuff looks kind of flat.

I have a book somewhere in a box in the basement waiting for me to build some book shelves that might tell me, but you probably don't want to wait for me to build book shelves.....

If you cut a say 3x3 square and weigh it you will be able to get real close, or at least eliminate a lot of possibilities. I know, it involves math.....

This gives you the weight of 1 cubic foot of foreign woods. Jatoba is 56 pounds and 2350 on the Janka scale.
