25" tall. Finished in oil and polyurethane. The seats were cut-offs that were destined to become cutting boards. Instead, I made them into sitting boards.

C&C welcome.

Very nice work Prashun. I really like the joinery of the legs and stretchers. Is the inlay in the walnut seat strictly a design element, or is there a functional purpose?

The kerf in the walnut was a bug that became a feature.

I really like the shape on the edge of the walnut stool. It's very distinctive. Nice clean joinery too.

I like them much better as siting boards ;-) Very nice work Prashun. I think we have a new winner for the "best use of scraps". I could definitely see this form as a matched set of breakfast bar stools.

Thanks, Glen. Funny you say 'matched set', because the first reaction from my home audience was, "But they're different colors. Why?"

To which I replied, "That's the point."

To which they resounded, "I like the dark one."

To which I countered, "The light one will become darker than the dark one in time."

To which they counter-countered, "But then they'll still be different colors."

Broken, I acquiesced, "When that time comes, I'll spray paint everything black."

Matchy matchy?

not on my watchy.

Brice, it's from the side of a live-edge board, so that live edge was left over.

Prashun those are sinuously gorgeous; just lovely. If they had only 3 legs I'd say they were very Frid like.

Why are they different colors? :)

Very creative and well executed. The cherry board must have been exceptionally wide compared with what we usually see in SE OH. The sap wood on it will always be a different color! :)

Oops, I meant SW OH.

Very Nice Prashun...I also like the sculptured joinery... I have a few large pieces of wood & those give me a nice idea......

My first impression of the photos was "How elegant". The joinery is beautiful.

Beautiful work Prashun. It reminds me of the Danish modern furniture I grew up with.

Thanks for all the generous comments. Yes, they are my own design, but come on, they're stools. It was difficult trying to make something unique. The seat scoop and width have to be functional. The rake and splay have to have integrity, and the stretchers need to support feet.

If anything, these made me appreciate how optimized the simple 4 legged stool is.

And all the angles re straight forward if you use wedges and set up blocks and bevel the bottom of the seat instead of trying to go all windsor with the drilling.

Wow, those are beautiful stools, Prashun! I see both Maloof and Frid in the design yet it's a design uniquely your own! Well done!

Broken, I acquiesced, "When that time comes, I'll spray paint everything black."

Don't you mean stain them espresso?

Echoing what others have said. Beautiful execution, the curves flow like a conga line during Carnival.

If I had a set of those in my house, I don't think I could bring myself to put my feet on them.
