Veneer advice needed please

I am refinishing an antique chair and need to replace a piece of veneer. The veneer goes in the trapezoid space. The wood is cherry and I have some carpathean elm burl to use. I have never applied veneer and this is on a curved surface to make it even more complicated. I do not have press to use either. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Once you get the veneer to fit, you can press it with a bag of sand. If you want more pressure, use the sand bag between a caul and the work and put clamps on the caul. Make sure you have a sheet of plastic between the work and the sandbag.
