Shaker Rope Bed / Rope bed Key

Hi

A friend of mine has a shaker rope bed for his son, through the uears he has lost the rope bed key used to tighten the rope with. He has asked me to make one if I can. Does anybody have one they can post a picture of or know where I can get a design for one?

I don't have a picture to share...but I do beleive you need two keys to tighten the ropes. As I understand it, it requires one person at either end with a key to adjust the ropes properly.

Never done this myself.....so who knows... :rolleyes:

google search on "shaker rope bed key" without the quotes yields a description for using dowel rods. It does require 2 folks to do it.
