I'm making a extension table for my TS out of 3/4 plywood and laminating the top. Frame will be oak.

I've read about the importance to also laminate the bottom and sides of the plywood to prevent warping. But could I use an oil based primer and a couple coats of oil based paint instead to seal it?

Seems like it would be alot easier.

I just built mine from 5/8" maple ply. I made the top 27"x12" and then laminated 2 pieces 1-1/2 wide and made a frame to fit around the bottom of the top. The frame is glued and screwed, the top glued to the frame. Two coats of Watco, installed about 1/64" below the cast iron, and waxed the top. It cost about $10 so if I have a problem, I'll make another. BTW, its plenty solid enough to hold my PSI overarm guard (anchored to the frame).
