I have been watching a lot of Wood Works, and notice that David Marks always uses a white marking tool. Does anyone know what specifically this is? White crayon, chalk, etc. I dont think it is chalk, because it leaves a very solid mark on the wood.

I am thinking some sort of oily crayon or something?

Thanks
Andy

The white is chalk... I've also seen him use a grease pencil...

I buy marking pencils at the local fabric/sewing store. They come in different colors and are designed to mark on fabric. (I use white on dark wood and blue on light wood) Can't remember (CRS) what they are called but they come in pen like dispensers and it's easy to get a sharp point. The marker material is kinda like wet chalk. It marks well on wood, does not penetrate and wipes/sands off easily. Not too expensive either.

I pick up my white marking pencils at local Michaels craft store. They're fairly common.

Sidewalk Chalk is the best. You can get it in all colors...for a couple of bucks at Office Depot. It washes off....but is easier to see than regular chalk.
