Hi guys,

a little background I'm sure is helpful so what we have is a Vytek L-Star 150 with a 48" x 96" bed. We've been running fine with out any hiccups for awhile but the other day our computer that is used to communicate to the laser got a bug or two from the web somehow resulting in the loss of communication between it and the laser. Example: Laser controller would not connect to the host etc. I could see the laser on the network and could ping it from other computers on the network, but it wouldn't connect to the computer that had Machine Tools Suite on it. We uninstalled MTS (Machine Tools Suite) from the infected computer and installed it onto the server from the original disk. Once we did this this we were able to once again use our laser but now any large jobs (36" x 60") that we had previously done a couple days before would no longer run and would produce an error like "out of bounds Y -33.000" To check a few things off before I went on I made sure that my start from center was checked, my home was in the middle of the table to provide enough room etc. I came inside and opened the MTS Job Console feature which allows me to view the table and file trying to be processed and noticed it looks like the Y axis is backwards from what the machine actually reads. I've cleaned the Y axis sensor which didn't change anything. To check and make sure the table was reading correctly I ran the machine datum back and made that my home. I ran the laser to the left which is going in the Y+ direction until I ran out of room which gave me Y 50.250 which is the limit it can go. I then ran it straight to the back in the X+ direction and ended up stopping at 96.500 also the limit it can go. I've contacted Vytek to solve the problem and they are helping and working with us on it, I just wanted to see if anyone here has ever experienced this or something similar. Below is a test I ran for the crew at Vytek to get a better idea of whats going on. I set my home the middle of the table and ran a 10 x 10 black square from the lower corner home. It looks like the Y axis is flopped when comparing what my table produces and what the software is seeing. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Justin

Just my 2 cents but the numbers 48 x 24 suggest a setting somewhere for table size, scaling or something is set wrong after the reload.

FYI None of my laser machine running computers are allowed to connect to the Internet.

So the picture with the marks X 48.00 and Y 24.00 are the middle of my table where I decided to make my home for the 10 x 10 file to make sure I had plenty of room in both directions.

Originally it wasn't, but we had someone come in and help us with training and they wanted us to take make the computer were working from the one which communicated to the laser. Worked out fine for awhile, but yeah its definitely not the correct way to go about it.

Turns out when our computer crashed and we installed the machine tool center software it had a corrupt XMI file. Our it guy replaced it with the one from an older working computer and this solved the issue.
