Low Flow Washer Hoses

Some inventions elude my simple mind. Accidentally picked up a set of low-flow washer hoses that only allow 1.2 gallons per minute into the washer. So what washer benefits from such a slow flow? Seems counter productive.

perhaps that is done where there is low water pressure so as not to take all the water at once?
