This is the first time that I have ever tried to post a pic. Hope it takes. The bowl is spalted white oak. I have had this blank about 2 years, since the time that I started to turn. I thought that after 2 years at this turning thing that maybe I could do it justice.

Wow! I really like what you did with that wonderful blank. The wood is stunning! Your shape is also right-on with a pleasant curve and great treatment of the rim.

John, try stepping back just slightly as your camera may be too close to focus as you may want it to. Get a little more distance and use the zoom to frame the shot.

If you are a member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) (http://www.woodturner.org) , pull out the Summer 2002 issue of American Woodturner. John Lucas, a turner who also happens to be a professional photographer, did a wonderful article on photographing your work. It's a very valuable reference for all of us who are learning to use our digital cameras as part of our woodworking activities.

Beautiful bowl, John. You turners always amaze me with what you can do. Keep up the good work.

That's a beautiful chunk of wood, and comes very close to what I consider a 'perfect' form for a bowl. Very nice job.

Get an extinguisher on that thing--I think it's on fire! I really like the grain pattern and agree with KC that it has excellent form. You're definitely welcome to post more pics of projects like that (and others too).

I agree with KC, thats a very appealing shape. I have added it to my "copy someday" file. Thanks for sharing.
