Now, how about them Jack planes? Whether it be a Junior Jack plane
307426
Run of the mill iron body jack planes
307427
don't forget them woodies, either
307428
And, last but not least in any way
307429
The Jumbo Jack planes. aka #5-1/2.

I might have a few of each.....:D

It's still Friday where I am.
Snow storm coming on Saturday and Sunday; the biggest of the season is what they are saying
so . . .
don't rush me big boy.
I was sure Mae West said that but I couldn't find it.
Doesn't stop me from posting this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJS670okmZc) though.
I don't know why.

This is getting embarrassing. When I saw the title I thought, ok I don't have very many 5's just a couple more than I have of the big boys. Wrong Bubba, I dug up seven users. I guess the reason I thought I had fewer is for the most part I only use the LN and the Stanley next to it and sometimes the Japanese plane on the end.

Since all the others have been photographed on the Walnut slab I figured this one would also use the Walnut slab and get a gratuitous Sam the Wonder Dog thrown in as well. From left to right: A shop made Beech Krenov style with a Veritas single tapered iron, a LN with a PM-V11 iron, a type 11 Stanley with a heavy cambered OEM iron, another type 11 Stanley with Stanley iron, a type 9 Stanley with OEM iron, a Woodriver with PM-V11 iron, and a Tsunesaburo 70mm with a Swedish Sandvik carbon steel iron.

The Schwartz simplicity thing is working great for me, I have two vintage Stanley fives, thinking of going back to just one.

Just two from me. One is a woodie I built. This sports a 5/16" thick (no typo) D2 blade ...

The other is a Bed Rock #605 ...

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a262/Derek50/Planes/Stanley%20Bed%20Rock%20605/Bedrock%20605-9_zpsqw9ptwoe.jpg

Both planes have 8" radius blades.

Incidentally, why do so many refer to these planes as "Bedrock"? they are spelled "Bed Rock". Even Patrick Leach refers to them as "Bed Rock".

Maybe it is an American habit of smushing words together?

No pictures, so I probably can't play,

But I have 3 # 5 Baileys, one of them is a type 7, circa 1893-1899
also, a 5 1/2 Bailey, 605 Bed Rock and an old transitional I don't know the type number.

The only reason I entered this fray is the type 7.

Does a bevel up LV jack count?

I have only one of any size/type except 4-1/2 smoothers (one has a high angle frog). So if it is jacks or better to open, I go nothing.

From the left a Sargent Jack, Stanley #5, Lee Valley LA Jack, Purple Heart Jack, 15.5 " home made from blank parts obtained from Steve Knight (HNT Gordon blade), Steve Knight Razee Jack 14" (Steve's blade, Cocobolo I think).

Here are mine. Maybe the #6s should have been thrown in, but those can go with the jointers.

307584

In the back is a beat up sole of a #5-1/4 and the only corrugated Jack in the shop. Total of three C's by my recollection.

The #5c may be a type 11 with the adjuster changed. It might be a type 12 with the knob changed.

In the field from left to right is first another beat up #5-1/4 that is set up as a scrub plane. Next is a #5-1/4 Stanley given to me by another member. The first #5 is from the WW II era. Next is a type 9 followed by a type 13. Then is a LN #62 and finally a type 9 #5-1/2.

That's a lot of 5 1/4 Jim. thought the jr jack was supposed to be the red headed step child of jack planes.

They work very well when doing the smaller panels
307601
I have used them to make raised panels, too.

Speaking of smaller stuff, made an error marking out some work today. That is when it came to me… A great use for #2 sized planes is as an eraser.

The two junkers came from a sour ebay deal. So I made some lemon aide from one of the lemons.

The frog for the other one should be around somewhere. Maybe it can also become a scrub plane for someone else.

I'm mainly into restoration.
My 5 1/4 is great for tweaking drawer runners.
