I'm usually my own worst critic, but I'm actually quite pleased with this one. https://forum.canadianwoodworking.com/images/smilies/smile1.gif

Birch burl with a burned and textured rim, and carved feet...It measures 14" x 4" and is finished with Danish oil.

Any comments welcome.

How about for a title "3 Strikes of Lightning" I paused while looking at pic #1 trying to figure out if that was the bottom or not. Creative execution on what turned out to be stunning piece of wood. Nice job Rob.

That is a handsome shape in some beautiful wood. I also like the minimal feet. I would call that figured birch rather than burl, but I could be wrong. Pretty either way.

I'm usually my own worst critic...

Rob, I've long heard it stated that the artist is ALWAYS his own worst critic. It comes from the fact that the artist is the one with the vision and knows how close or far from that they came. Others just judge the finished product in its own rights.

Stunning piece of wood and very well displayed. Carved feet are a challenge, but really enhance the look when done well and these are. Very nice!

Very striking piece. Every thing seems to really work well with the spectacular piece of wood. It shows that you really do have to cut into a section to see what is there.
