Is there a difference between the Beall White Diamond buffing wheel and the one for carnauba wax? A friend picked up a replacement after I contaminated the original with some brass polishing, and it just doesn't put down the same luster.

What I have seen in product listings is that the Tripoly wheel is 100% linen, the white diamond wheel is 50% Linen, 50% cotton, and the wax wheel is 100% cotton. I have only seen this in catalog descriptions, so take if for what it is worth.

I would try washing the contaminated one.

I have the set and Brian is quite correct.

They wash very well. But do not use fabric softener.

You might try "resurfacing" them with some 150 grit sandpaper backed by a piece of wood. That also gets rid of the "strings" when the wheels are first new.

Ken is correct, bu that will not remove contamination from the fibers. It's merely for "dressing" the edges.
