Anyone use the Rockler RouterSpeed Control on a Mini Lathe?

A friend of mine is considering a Jet 1014 mini lathe that doesn't have electronic speed control. Will a Rockler router speed control work?

If the motor is an induction motor, it probably won't work. If it's a universal motor, it will. My guess is that it has an induction motor.

Wrong motor for that application. Save your money :)
