I am taking a camera class to learn more so I went outside in the snow storm and took my first night pictures. It is amazing how much light is really out there. Here are a few. The room is the greenhouse.

Photography is a long time hobby of mine. I have no interest in sports. So I would say you made good use of your time!

What shutter speed and f-stop did you use. Did you color balance prior to the shots. I love the pics.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I thought they were pretty good for a first try. I have a Canon Xsi camera and used the kit lens that came with the camera.

Jerry - I used the aperture priority mode for all of them. White balance was set to shade. ISO was set to auto. F10 for night1, f5 for the other two.

I tried to to use the shutter speed to stop the snow but they came out black because there was not enough light. AV mode is the way to go. Let the camera pick the shutter speed. The shutter speed for these three pictures was 1/5 second, 5 seconds, and 8 seconds.

Yea to stop the snow you would probably needed flash mode and a higher shutter speed. Pretty nice shots tho.

To get a picture with the snow coming down isn't hard. Getting a picture of the snow coming down and looking the way you would expect it to look is a lot harder.
