It says it has a 4 inch thick worktop. Is that just on the edges or through the whole top ?

I have this bench. The front 7 inches are 41/4 inches thick. The rest of the depth is 3 inches thick. The four inches covers both vices and the three inches allow for the vice screws. I do like this bench and use it all the time. The only thing I would like different is a quick release vise.
