I have a Kelton hollowing rig I used to turn hollow vessels on the lathe. It has to vertical poles/pipes that are 1 1/4" on the outside diameter. To these vertical poles/pipes I have a cross bar that locks down with allen screws to establish a vertical height.

I have to occasionally remove this bar and want to be able to return it to the exact same position easily and have thought of the following ideas.

Take rings with allen screws and drop them down and lock them in place establishing the height and use them as stops. A splint ring would be best to allow some play.

What would you call these rings and where could you buy them?

Don't know about "allen head split rings", but for what you're trying to accomplish, wouldn't a couple of hose clamps work just as well?

Thanks Frank, it's hard to search or goole when you don't know what it's called.

Or, a couple of o-rings.
