purchasing good wood

I recently moved to Tallahassee Florida and I am looking to find local places to buy wood. I build furniture and do some turning. Hardwood, turning stock and exotics. I know I can order it online but like to support local businesses and like to handle the material before I buy.

I would call Hood Distribution in Jacksonville, 800-346-0922 They have ware houses all around and they may be able to help or direct you to another supplier.
It is good to call ware houses as they only have will call hours at certain times. At Hood I can buy one board at a time if I want.
