Just a little project to make things a bit more comfortable. When kindling is needed, there is a hunk of wood in the shop used as a chopping block. It is kind of hard on the back to use it standing for any length of time, so a board was put across a 5 gallon bucket to make a seat. Just for a lark this "custom" piece was made so it wouldn't get used for something else.

The edges were cut on a bandsaw.

The rabbet was cut using a small back saw and then pared to fit with a chisel. If my lathe was a bit bigger It would be easy to turn something like this to cover the bucket. As it is it still leaves room to toss things in the bucket since it is also the shop trash can.

The bucket bail can swing over the seat freely making it easy to carry. It may be a good item for the farmers market with a piece hanging from the bottom to hold garden tools.

Jim,

You do nice work. I'm impressed.

Did I notice you added a locking pin to your story stick?

I changed the wedge for easier setting.

I am always amazed at what I learn here. Love your stuff and Steven Neumans stuff, often so much more creative and simple than the stuff I do.
