I typically do not wear a watch and have not in the last 20-or so years, clocks on our phones, desks, and computers. However with the need to travel to different time zones for the job, I am trying to find something that I can wear on my belt, just to keep track when I can't have my phone on, or to keep it set to "home-time". I have used to use a watch that attached to a belt loop, however the ones that I have found lately are inverted, easy for you to read, but upside down for me. I recall a watch that was attached to a leather holster, that flipped down when you needed it and was covered when not.

Dakota Watch has some caribiner watches that attach to your belt loop.

Check cabelas maybe. My lovely wife bought me one similar to what you are talking about to use when hunting ducks. Much better than dropping the phone in the swamp.

I kill wrist watches through impact, water, etc (other than my 10$ Timex diving watch). if I wear a watch I use a pocket watch on a fob. Thr fob fastens to the belt loop, and the watch sits, well, in your pocket (maybe even in the watch pocket of your jeans). My pocket watch is Stainless Steel and has a cover over the crystal. There is no orientation issue at all.

Guard Dog.

On edit: Never mind. Looks like they may be out of business. Duluth is clearancing what they have, and the website of the company is just a blank page. I liked mine, but it did eventually die (the analog portion quit working).

I just purchased this one from Kohls last night. They have 3 other styles also. You have to go through the stack of boxed watches to find them. About $20 on sale. This is my 3rd one. I have used this type of watch for years. I bust a wrist watch way too often at work.

I don't care what time it is.

My phone goes off so frequently,
it's not necessary for me to know.

Everybody that calls says I should be there,
"Ten minutes ago."

I used to wear my watch on my belt in the late 1970's. Mostly because I was doing a lot of magnetic particle inspection in those days using very high magnetic fields inspecting pipe and steel. I made my own watch band from a strip of leather and used a brass grommet to secure the ends once the leather was passed through the watch pins and under the back.
